Portriats

I have ordered my bridal portriat! This is the one I decided on.

Fiance and I both love black and white pictures so I thought it was a good idea to go with this one, also because it's one of my favorites!
I ordered a 16x20 canvas print of this and just guess how much it cost, guess.............................................................................................................................$59.99!!!!!!!!!! That's it!!! I ordered from Costco (you have to be a member) if you are a bride out there who doesn't want to have to spend an obscene amount of money on a portriat Costco is the way to go! My photographer actually let me in on that little secret!!! And now I'm passing it onto you dear readers! (And shipping was only $4.50)
Now what kind of frame should I get? I can't decide..........

What do you think???

Groom's Cake

I realized when Prep E-girl left me a comment about what kind of Doll I needed for my groom's cake that I had never actually told ya'll what I was doing for the groom's cake!

Well after meeting the consultant to go over the wedding cake I asked about a groom's cake and what I told her I really wanted was a soccer ball cake! Because Fiance is a HUGE soccer player, actually played for Scotland at one time, so I knew that's what I wanted for the cake. The consultant proceeded to tell me that it would be around $200 to do a soccer cake because of the roundness of the cake! And Sarah proceeded to choke on the wedding cake she had put in her mouth, just kidding but I was thinking that's outrageous!

So I decided to brainstorm and come up with some other way of making a groom's cake that didn't break the bank! And my sister-in-law popped into my head, she makes all the kids birthday cakes and she super talented, so I thought it would be funny and a good idea to ask her if she would take my niece Lily's barbie cake mold and create the top half of a soccer ball.......and instead of a barbie coming out of the top have either a Ken barbie or a super hero i.e. spiderman, superman, whatever. So that is the game plan and it will be a surprise for Fiance! I think he's going to get a kick out of it!

Here's a picture of a barbie cake, just in case some people reading this have no idea what I'm talking about......so I need to decide if I want Ken or superhero and I think I'm leaning toward superhero.....Image from GoogleImages

I have so much to do!

I have a lot going on right now! I think I've all but nailed down a new job! I'm just waiting for my third week of vacation to be approved so that I can take time to you know get married, have a honeymoon, that kind of thing.....so once that's settled I'll officially have a new job that starts in a little over two weeks! I'll actually be staying with the company that I'm at right now and be doing something similar to what I do today but it'll be a little different which I'm actually excited about. I'll just be happy to have something decided and not have this extra stress to worry about!

Which leads me to my next topic.......product review!!!! With all of the wedding planning and job interviewing and everything else, I've been under some serious stress and I thought it would be a good time to try out this.........Kiehl's Superbly Efficient Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant
I didn't used to sweat so much but lately the sweating has been kicked up a notch or 3. I don't know if it's my hormones or what but I've pretty much tried everything and nothing really seems to get the job done so I read a review of the Kiehl's on the WeddingBee and decided I'd give it a go. I'm only on the first day but I'll get back to you on how I think it's working!
And I had to share with you that Fiance and I decided on our First Dance Song! We'll be dancing to Michelle Featherstone's 'We are Man and Wife' I went onto YouTube and listened to it and thought it was just perfect, I got a little teared up just listening to it and I let Fiance listen to it and he thought it was perfect too!!! Feels good to have that done!
I also got all of the frames that we'll be using for our Family Wedding Photos table.....we've got pictures of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days and we are going to have a special place at the reception for them. Got some nice silver frames at Marshall's for $3.99 each!
Next, I'm going to order my portriat and then order the handkerchiefs! I'm really trying to get a few things done a day so I don't feel so completely overwhelmed! Fiance and I are also meeting with the resturant owner tonight to go over our rehearsal dinner so that'll be another thing we can check off the list! : )

Need some help!

My MOH needs some help! She's doing her own invitations for her wedding and she went and bought the invitations (from target I think) and now she's having trouble finding somewhere to get them printed????
She's found a font that she likes on a website that you go to according to the instructions on the box of invitations but they won't download to her computer? Does anyone know where she can get them printed without costing a fortune? I don't know what to tell her?
**ABORT MISSION - Crisis resolved she went to Kinko's and they are going to print them for a reasonable amount $65 I think she said.

Wedding Towel Cake!

My first stab at making a wedding towel cake!!! This is for my maid of honor's shower on Friday!

These are her towels that she registered for and one of her flowers is the tiger lily! I'm sitting it on top of a cake stand that I got from target.....it's so cute, it can be used as a cake stand that has a cover AND you can use it as a punch bowl!! I love it, I actually registered for one myself!!

Not to bad for my first try huh?!

I just got jipped!

So I totally got ripped off! (i think) I went to Startbuck's to get my coffee and I ordered a tall non-fat caramel latte..........the menu said it was $2.80 and my bill came to $3.89???????????? Now I know that they charge you for flavoring but that much more????? And the girl didn't give me a reciept so I couldn't tell how she rang it up.........UGH! You're on my bad list right now Starbuck's!!! You need to train your employees better than that!

Finally Pictures!!!

So I am just going to let everyone know that I'm very slow on the technological wave that is the little cord that connects your camera to your computer and allows you to download your pictures! I'm not proud to admit this, but there it is, shoo I feel better all ready! :)

Now here are some long overdo pictures!!!

This is a picture that I took of my hair after my bridal portraits, I would say it was around 6:00 and that would be a good 7-8 hours after my hair was done as well as a good photo session outside in the 90 degree heat!!! Needless to say I was impressed! (Please pay no attention to Feifal and Shrek in the background!)

The second part of my bridal portraits were taken at my Grandmother/Aunt and Uncle's house and they were so sweet as soon as they saw me my Grandmama and Aunt both started crying!!! And then when the photo session was over they had sparkling peach cider and shrimp cocktail waiting for me! And they gave me the above handkerchief that belonged to my Great Grandmother to use as my something old!!!! I was so touched!!!!!!!

This is my BCBG dress that I got for my shower and it was a hit!!! Everyone loved it even Fiance he said it accentuated my best feature (my legs, I'm 5'9") at least my best feature to Fiance ;)

Here are the letters that I got to hang on the Church doors, I'll be hanging them with the tartan ribbon I got!

These are the frames that I got to include as part of my Bridesmaids gifts, I'll be putting poems in them for my girls!

I got a couple of these frames from Michael's to use around the reception!!

And here is my LONG overdo Christmas in July presents that Miss AR got me! A monogrammed hand towel, cute Christmas frame ornament, pink and green photo book, an awesome scarf, an even more awesome gift card to Starbucks, and two pads and a Sharpie pen that will be used at the reception for my coffe table books!!! I'm one lucky girl!
And last but not least here is a peak inside my bachelorette party, you'd think I was at Mardi
Gras with all those beads around my neck!!!!!! hehe!

Showers and Invitations and Bachelorettes, Oh my!

Hi everyone! I'm sorry I left you hanging yesterday with no update on the weekends festivities! I was still recuperating! Old Downtown Southern had herself a little too good of a time Saturday night! : ) And was paying for it for the last two days!

I'm waiting for my girlfriends to send me picks from the shower and bachelorette so in the meantime I'll show you a few of the wonderful gifts I got!

I had such a great time, my maid and matron outdid themselves!!! The theme of the party was pink and green so we had green punch with strawberrys and pink and green ribbon tied to them. And they had sent everyone pink and green recipe cards for them to write their favorite recipe on and gave them to me in a cute clear recipe box!! I thought it was such a cute idea!

And then the bachelorette was a ton of fun too! Like I said I had myself a really good time and no there were no strippers or strip clubs to be had, sweet southern bell's don't partake in such things ; )

On Sunday, even though I was hurting from the previous nights festivities, my sweet mom and I got all of the invitations stuffed and stamped and out in the mail on Monday morning!!! With the exception of the international invites and a small handful of other invites that I'm still waiting for Fiance to get me the stinkin addresses on.....the rest of them are gone!!!!! What a load off my mind!!! I promise you I will post pictures just as soon as I get them!!!

So let's recap......

That's a pretty busy weekend! But it's gonna be a fun one!!!! : ) I'll be sure to take lots of pictures and post them next week!! Hope everyone else has a good one too!

My new Obsession!

(picture from here)

As soon as I read Miss Houndstooth and Nail's post about this I went and got the book and IT. IS. AMAZING!!!!! I don't think I've ever read a book as fast as I read this one, I literally finished it in two days (the book is almost 500 pages) and am now onto the second book! You have to read Miss Houndstooth and Nail's post about it becuase she does a great job of decribing it!

All I can say is the author, Stephanie Meyer, has an unbelievable gift of pulling you into the story in a way that makes it hard to stop reading because you want to know what's going to happen next! I don't want to spoil anything but the way she put's into words the attraction between the two main characters is unlike anything I've read before.......it's just WOW!!! And if reading it wasn't good enough they've made a movie out of it that's coming to theatres December 12th.....I cannot wait!!!!

If you're looking for a good book to read this is it!!!!

Single White Female

I saw this on the Weddingbee and after debating on what to use to hold my programs and not having any luck in finding what I wanted I decided this was really cute and affordable and would do just fine!
So basically I Single White Femailed Miss Sundae.......thanks Miss Sundae : )

(photo from weddingbee)

Here's the dilemma I'm facing though......my colors are black and ivory......the basket is black and white......the programs are going to be ivory......is that okay?????? Will it look bad do you think????

Hostess Gifts

I was able to get two of my three hostess gifts this weekend! My first shower is this coming Saturday so I wanted to go ahead and get the gifts.

For my matron of honor I got her this Kate Spade brag book!

She recently bought a gorgeous red Kate Spade purse so I thought this would be great for her to carry with it, it's supposed to be used for photos but I thought she could even put a pad in there and use it as a little agenda book too!

For my cousin I got her this cute Cheese tray/cutting board from South Moon Under

She has a condo in Virginia Beach that she goes to every summer so I thought this would be great for entertaining there!
For my moh I'm getting her something Vera, she's a Vera Bradley addict!
And that's one more thing done!
Haven't heard anything on the job front....it's a little frustrating and disheartening but hopefully I'll hear something this week!

Music

I met with the organist and pastor last night.....the pastor just sat in since he's married to the organist! Let me just tell you she is so organized and on the ball that I left there with very good feelings! We decided on 'Glasgow Love Theme' for the grandmothers and mothers walking in and then 'Cannon D' for the Bridesmaids. And she played the 'Cannon D' for me and it was beautiful I could totally picture the girls walking down the isle to that!
For me the piper will be playing 'Ode to Joy' and then for Fiance and I he will play 'Mairi's Wedding' (never heard it but I'm sure it's lovely). I'm also going to get the piper to play 'Holy, Holy, Holy' while Fiance and I light the unity candle.

My organist and pastor are the nicest people, they have three daughters who are all married so they had a plethora of wedding things for me to borrow. I'm getting a lovely mahogany easel for my portrait, a cute mail box for the cards, and they actually had a silver cake stand they said I could use!!! Only problem was I got it home and realized it's 14"......same size as the base of my cake so it won't work, I have to find a 16" one. :( Oh well the other stuff will come in handy for sure!!!

I need your help....again!

I really think I should rename my blog to Random Bride because I always seem to think of the random wedding related things to talk about.
So I am having our guests sign coffe table books at our reception but I want to find a good set of pens for them to use. I want them to be smudge proof since they'll be writing on glossy pages, you know? They don't need to be fancy, they just need to work well. Does anyone know where I can find some because I've looked at Michael's and didn't have any luck, however I'm not even sure what I'm looking for? Fiance said to get t-shirt pens but I'm not sure that would work.....
Any of you crafty ladies out there know what I'm talking about?

Shopping Spree!

If I could go on a shopping spree right this very minute here is where I would go and these are just a few things I would get!!! All of the images are from here ......I love this store!!! It makes me happy! It's also where I got my Bridesmaids totes!! How cute is this stuff???

This little beauty is a wedding response card holder!! SO cute!

Rings!

The rings have been ordered and have come in! We actually went into the jewelry store on Saturday and tried them on! Originally we had decided to go with the one below for Fiance but when he tried it on it didn't look good so we ended up going with a double milgrain design instead. It looked much better on him!
His original one above....His new one below!

Mine!

We got them from here, same place where Fiance got my engagement ring. One more thing to check off the list!! It feels good ya'll!

And thank you so much for all of your comments on what to do with my engagement ring during the ceremony, I'm going to put it on my right hand and move it over afterward!!!
